A four-week online course in the art and science of movement and sexuality for an embodied, educational, and empowering experience.
Begins February 16
Become the artist of your erotic life
Dear big-hearted seeker,
I’m guessing you’ve experienced some of the following:
Worrying that something about you isn’t right
Words swimming in your head that never leave your lips
Waiting for it to be over
Doing something not because you want to but because you think it’s what you’re supposed to do
Tensing up
Holding your breath
Holding back
Tolerating discomfort
Checking out
Perhaps you’ve felt these responses at work, during exercise, or in sex.
I have too, and I’ll let you in on a little secret . . . WE ALL HAVE.
They are stress and trauma responses; symptoms of a sex-negative culture polarized between the puritanical and the pornographic yet shrouded in the silence of shame.
I grew up dancing classical ballet. While it had its benefits, the culture taught me to push through everything at any expense and with a smile to boot.
As I grew older, the same patterns revealed themselves in my relationships and sexual experiences. How could I ask for what I wanted or prioritize my pleasure when I had learned to override my needs?
Even when I began practicing somatics, my behavior in relationships and at work remained the same. I felt trapped in my habitual responses of saying yes when I meant no, tolerating discomfort, and shutting down.
My intuition told me there must be another way, but what? And how? I had no role models who were talking openly and honestly about sex, pleasure, trauma, or advocating for their needs.
Fast forward to 2015 when curiosity lead me to join a somatic sex education program lead by a trailblazing woman whom I admired. I shyly said yes and BAM . . . everything began to change.
The choice to consciously learn about sex lifted the veil of shame I lived under and empowered me to make my safety and pleasure my top priority in sexual space.
The simple yet profound embodiment and movement practices I learned began to rewire my habit of overriding my needs. What took its place was noticing and honoring my truth. Finally, what I was practicing integrated into my life outside the classroom.
That’s when I knew there was power in embodied education.
My relationships began to deepen. The sex that I was having, both with myself and partners, went from average to mind-blowing and even healing. My stress decreased. My everyday experience of life became more sensual, vibrant, and reverent.
You see, we carry the imprints of our conditioning in our bodies. In intimacy, these imprints get magnified.
While these patterns can feel incredibly frustrating and even unbearable, they are not inevitable. After working with hundreds of people in both movement and sexuality, I can say without a shadow of a doubt that gentle, doable transformation and healing are always possible through a mind/body approach.
Erotic intelligence is an essential step in the right direction, but to truly change the imprints in your body, you must go to Erotic Embodiment.
This course combines pleasure-positive holistic sex education to reframe oppressive beliefs with daily movement practices to imprint the liberation through your body.

Because erotic energy is life-force energy
Your journey to Erotic Embodiment:
Week 1: Safe Sex- Safety precedes pleasure. Understand when you feel safe, when you don’t and what to do when challenges arise. Create a foundation of relaxation to open to more sensations. Befriend your body. Court your pleasure.
Week 2: Honor- Sacrifice the cultural scripts that shame your sexual expression. Learn what self-consent feels like. Put your inner critic to rest and deepen in self-honor.
Week 3: Generate- Map your unique erotic wiring. Expand your capacity for pleasure. Stoke your turn-on for life.
Week 4: Savor- Integrate and celebrate who you are becoming. Source strength in your uniqueness. Best practices for taking what you’ve learned with you.
Consistent gentle action is how we form new neural pathways and grow. This course focuses on doable daily embodied practice. Through body awareness, breathwork, movement exercises, and energy practices, you will begin to change old patterns that don’t serve you.
While the subconscious level of the body is where we’ll practice daily, there will also be plenty of didactic information to satisfy your mind and transform disempowering beliefs.
Pleasure is nothing to feel guilty about
Hi, I’m Emily Athena and I’ll be your guide.
I’m a devotee of the embodied path and nature-loving dancer who believes that sexuality, movement, and our ability to gather together are the foundational elements of being human. My big turn-on is to help humanity with the instinctual remembering of what it is to be human.
I’m a certified somatic sex educator, movement teacher with fifteen years of experience, and a Somatic Experiencing® trauma resolution practitioner in training. My coaching work supports people to more fully inhabit their bodies, heal from pain, and un-shame their sexuality.
I hope you’ll join me in liberating the power held in your uniqueness, pleasure, and aliveness- your embodied eroticism.
FAQ
What is the time commitment?
This course focuses on doable daily embodiment or movement practice. That said, the exercises will be short, anywhere from 5-20 minutes. The sex education videos will be about 30 minutes each. While the idea is for this material to infuse your life, you can expect to spend about 2 hours per week learning or practicing. Of course, the more you participate, the deeper your transformation.
I’m not sexually active, is this course appropriate for me?
Yes. Eroticism and sexuality are not only about sex. I always say that sex education is more like human education. It’s about becoming more YOU.
I’m a survivor of trauma, is this course appropriate for me?
Yes, but it is not a substitute for therapy. All of the content is trauma-informed and filter through the Somatic Experiencing® trauma resolution lens. If you have significant unresolved trauma, I recommend also having the support of a counselor or therapist.
I’m single/in a relationship/poly/gay/trans/gender non-conforming… Is this course for me?
Yes. This course is for all adults regardless of relationship status, gender, or sexual orientation. The material is inclusive and broadly applicable. That said, if you don’t feel comfortable learning from a white, cis-gendered bi-sexual woman, then please honor that.
I have a significant injury or disability, is this course for me?
Most likely. All of the practices can be modified. If you’d like to speak with me before you decide, please fill out the form below.
Will there be any explicit sexual content?
No. There will be no nudity, exchange of sexual energy or in-depth genital touch technique taught. This course is about you connecting with your own erotic energy.

“I was lucky enough to attend one of Emily Athena's classes. Through her genuine openness and ability to meet everyone in the class ‘where they were' she created an environment in which taboo vanished and information flowed between presenter and participants.
